Plotinus isn't dead, it's done. It does what I created it to do and I'm not aware of any major bugs.

Unfortunately, GTK4 has dropped support for modules, which means Plotinus neither works nor can be made to work in its current form on GTK4. As you may imagine, this has somewhat curbed my enthusiasm for adding new features to Plotinus.

But Plotinus still works on GTK3 and should continue to do so, since the GTK3 API has been frozen for a long time. Vala likewise hasn't seen breaking changes in quite a while, so I don't expect any problems there either.

either it should support something like plotinus

It will probably be added to libadwaita at some point. See https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Design/os-mockups/-/issues/35

Gtk4 doesn't do modules, but either it should support something like plotinus or expose a mechanism to do the same (which is probably something more focused than modules).

I wonder what the best way forward for a native equivalent would be ?
