Thank you! The problem was I used only latest Emacs, now installed 24.2 and 23.4 too.
Commented it and everything is still working. Also fixed more lines.
I feel there are still a LOT of bugs to fix.

Sorry for letting you wait, I've been too busy. Anyway, tried it out just now and this particular error seems to be resolved. Thanks! I am however experiencing some other issue trying to enable workgroups-mode.
As I installed there were several warnings in the compile log - besides reference to free variable which seems to be common to almost all packages I install. Sorting these out is perhaps a good idea? I'll look into my problems a bit more and see whether I can fix them. Otherwise I'll file more issues. :)
