That one is used: (defcustom wg-mode-line-display-on (not (featurep 'powerline))...

The way it's done now doesn't seem to help. But I found that it does work if I only turn on workgroups-mode after all other initialization is finished. I'll try setting that up in a hook and see if it works.

Yes, it was always better to load it last, but bug fixes are wellcome
