There seems to have been a change into this recently as the latest version break the "switch" command and phpbrew does not set the default in my environment anymore. Have tried to debug but cant figure out.
By calling "switch/use" the correct version is set.

To counter this is am doing as a interim solution.
source $HOME/.phpbrew/bashrc
phpbrew use php-5.4.12
