This was fixed for reminder messages in rev 97ece25.
A lengthy attempt was made to add this to the daily schedule too, but it turns out that placing an emoji in a PDF is quite complex (it requires an emoji-capable font, amongst other things). A full solution will have to wait until I have time to dig into the vagaries of PDF...

Another alternative would be to use flag images instead of emoji flags, provided a suitable source of flag images can be found. clj-pdf has direct support for images.
