I don't know how much customization we should make to the djangorecipe recipe. Would it make sense to have something else that handled those sorts of non-recipe recipe related things?

Sorry, that's kinda what I mean. The proper fix here is to commit a better upstream to the djangorecipe maintainers.

But this issue is to add a feature to have an action to copy template (or skeleton) files from a specific directory, somehow. Maybe a directory of possible skeletons for different types of python projects, and an option to select which one to copy a template for.
