Hey @jhuashao! The reason you're still seeing some errors is because codepen needs the uncompiled SCSS to make those variables work. I'd be happy to set up a CodeSandbox with you which should work a little better :)

I'm +1 to sticking with Codesandbox for prototypes. I've been going back and forth between that and Codepen, and I feel like it might be nice to commit to one tool and get a template going that works well out of the box.

Not the prettiest solution at the moment, but once the tertiary navigation patterns get finalized, it'll be great to revisit this issue and finalize a better template.
