@Propaganistas Thanks for the response. Is there any way to add any additional debugging to figure out what part is invalid? Or customise what functions are used to check the valid state? The possible number function returned true, so not sure why it would be detected as invalid?

You should never resort to isPossibleNumber() as it doesn't check valid number patterns but only checks number length.

You can always debug using the plain old way: inserting debug statements in vendor code.
