I think it would be a mistake to reinvent the wheel here. GTK has GtkApplication for session management, so maybe checking that and how we can integrate into zathura would be a good starting point.

@sebastinas When I reboot, xfce restores some programs I had open earlier. Zathura's windows are restored, too, but they are empty windows without an open document. This makes the restarting of zathura rather pointless. Would this problem be solved with GtkApplication, or is this another problem?
