1.0.0 seems rather old. Latest is 1.0.4 here https://github.com/pychess/pychess/releases

Can confirm the installation works with version 1.0.4. In my post, I was referring to the page https://pychess.github.io/download/ where the usage of a package from the package list further down on that page is recommended (which is version 1.0.0.).
