pyimgui equivalent of ImGuiKey_NamedKey_END about pyimgui

Just to follow up, I wrote this liitle piece of code to just keep iterating until an error happens and then assume we are done.

I was hoping that this code, called in the render of a glfw window containing just a single, empty fullsize imgui window, would return something if I hold down some keys with the application focused. I get nothing; the return value is always the empty list.

    def _keys_down(self):
        keys = []
        index = 0
        while True:
            try:
                key_down = imgui.is_key_down(index)
                if key_down:
                    keys.append(key_down)
                index += 1
            except:
                break
        return keys

So maybe I am missing something about initializing keyboard focus or other setup?
