Footnote extension crashes (stack recursion depth) when there are many footnotes about markdown

I am sure that the original author of that code (not me) has no time
to work on it. I will add that I have removed lots of recursive code
from Python-Markdown over the last few years. The Footnotes extension
is one of the pieces I have done very little to. Patches are certainly
welcome.

I finally hacked over it just to find that you patched it too (and I forgot to check for new changes) ;-)

Your patch is better, so long live bcdd7b2. I would only add a note about side-effect (preserving footnote defs on self.footnotes) to the _findFootnoteDefiniton docstring
