It's not in our short term roadmap but it's certainly technically feasible.

@camilogarciabotero We have now integrated the visual editor into the VS Code extension. We haven't yet added support for cell execution and completion (but will soon). Details are here: https://quarto.org/docs/visual-editor/vscode/

Believe it or not we already have a Prosemirror based markdown editing framework of our own (which targets Pandoc markdown rather than Remark). It's currently available only in RStudio though: https://quarto.org/docs/visual-editor/. That of course doesn't help you for VS Code (although you could run it side by side w/ VS Code as file changes to automatically propagate in both editors).

Oh I see. Yes, I was actually thinking of having the RStudio-like visual editor in vscode quarto extension. But didn't know the framework specs... Thanks for clarifying. Does the quarto-extension have a prosemirror in a roadmap?
