Exact same issue on Windows using Strawberry Perl 5.24.2.1, VS Code 1.16.1.

It looks like the issue is with clicking on the expansion triangle (?) i the GUI. You can see the value of individual variables using adding variable watches, but even there you cannot inspect structures (arrays, hashes, etc.)

Edit

Installing the PadWalker Perl module fixed the issue.

yeah the padwalker is a dependency - I want to add a "info" warning if it's not installed - that said however there are certain combinations of OS + perl + perlDB that will result in different scope layouts (some don't provide "global" - I haven't found the root cause for this, but I have considered shipping perlDB in the extension)

I'm closing this issue - v0.4.0 will now show a message in the "variable inspector" if padwalker is not installed. Let me know if it doesn't solve the issue
