The actual result is closer to what I'd expect, but probably still not exactly what should happen. The issue is you can't rewind a generator after it's started. When you subscribe for the second time, it's the same as calling next on a generator that has already completed.
I'm not sure what the behavior should be for subscribing on an invalid generator. I'm open to suggestions.
In order to accomplish what you're trying to do, you can wrap your generator in a defer
, which will act like a factory:
$source = Rx\Observable::defer(function () {
return \Rx\Observable::fromIterator((function () {
yield 1;
yield 2;
yield 3;
})());
});
from rxphp.
If we're to mimic RxJS's behavior, the output would be:
Next 1: 2
Next 1: 4
Next 1: 6
Completed 1
Completed 2
I think this makes the most sense.
RxJS example:
const obs = Rx.Observable
.from((function* () {
yield 1;
yield 2;
yield 3;
}()))
.map(v => v * 2)
.filter(v => v % 2 == 0);
obs.subscribe(
v => console.log('Next 1:', v),
e => console.error(e),
() => console.log('Completed 1')
);
obs.subscribe(
v => console.log('Next 2:', v),
e => console.error(e),
() => console.log('Completed 2')
);
