Nice idea! Regarding the clap compile error I submitted a PR #17 yesterday.
Looking at your comment, it seems the error originates from Criterion in the call to configure_from_args().
I don't know if there is any use for CLI arguments there at all: How would you pass them to configure Criterion within the 'bench' command? I guess you'd have to implement a more advanced argument handling, possibly with subcommands...
In the meantime simply removing the call allows to run single day benchmarks with default arguments :-)

That was indeed the problem! I have opened a PR with my code.
I noticed that removing the line also meant no colors would be produced, in other words that configure_from_args
changes Criterion
even when no args are supplied. I opened an issue there: bheisler/criterion.rs#537
