Great! Thinking about what to suggest, maybe first hands-on task (before starting to dig into the drinks app), you could do:

• feel the wow

after that people will have a reason to want to learn to program apps for this.

We will have a short introduction to the concepts of Remote Storage, an open standard for per-user storage. We will then integrate remoteStorage.js into a simple example app together, blessing it with a storage backend, syncing and offline capabilities without touching any server code. You should then be able to try it yourself and unhost apps of your choice.
