any of the existing servers would do. you would just have to have a way to create users...

thinking out loud, you could configure a 'default registration page' option when including remoteStorage, and if you do that, the widget would have an extra option 'Go Hosted' or whatever, that would redirect you to the app provider's registration page, and that would then become your remotestorage.

definitely something we could consider. or if we could offer a proxy to Google Drive and/or Dropbox that would also solve the problem for many app developers.

this is only relevant in the app-first scenario, of course.
