Do you intend to distribute the app as a Jar, or will the users normally use Gradle to run the app? I ask because there are some extra steps copying the HTML templates from a Jar.

Jar is better but not terribly important. Students can run it using gradle as well if there is no jar available.

Done. You can distribute in the standard Gradle way now 🥇. (Jar + dependencies + script.) Instruction in README.
