The issue with m2_ isn't a bug; rather, _.clone clones the model into a new plain object which is not an instance of Backbone.Model. User error on my part.

The issue with m3_ raises an interesting question of whether m.clone() should produce a nestified instance or not. The options are:

  • "Override" clone method like is already being done for get etc. Clones are automatically nestified, but perhaps this is not expected or desired?
  • Add a new nestify.clone(...) method to the plugin for deliberate cloning of a nestified model instance.

(Note to self: need to test that enclosed state can be safely shared between instances.)
