Looks like 3.11.5 was release while I was typing the above! I updated to it, but the issue remains.

Update: I noticed that there is a 'Twinny' icon at the bottom of my extensions list which opens a chat interface. Typing things in the chat interface does produce a log output in ollama (although I can't make it display a response). If you think this is a generic 'remote' issue, please close in favour of #207.

Wait, I restarted VSCode again after the 3.11.5 update, and now I'm getting autocompletions. I'm going to close this. Sorry for the noise!
