PS Sorry, can't change type from "Issue" to "Enhancement"

This seems to be a valid enhancement idea.

Due to some time pressure, this will not be included in 1.1.

How should this functionality work in practice? Should new keywords be added to enable/disable port-forwarding or should it be a configured when connections are opened?

At least in openssh client port forwarding is done when the connection opened. This functionality would be helpful.

I assume that "Local Port Forwarding" (case #1 at http://chamibuddhika.wordpress.com/2012/03/21/ssh-tunnelling-explained/) is meant by this request.

In practice, the local port should be configurable on library import, with keyword Set Default Configuration or as an argument to Open Connection.

Please verify that this is what you need.

This turned out to be harder to implement than expected and likely won't make into 1.2 (expected release this week), but will definitely go into 1.3.

Is it still valid?
As a base I used this example: https://github.com/paramiko/paramiko/blob/master/demos/forward.py and forwarding with RobotFramework-SSHLibrary is working.

I would love to see local port forwarding been incorporated in SSHLibrary. This will make a very useful feature!

@pchomik do you have an example to share?
