I have access to Claude models via a gateway service (https://syncera.id/docs) which provides access to Claude AI models via its own gateway using its own API key. When I entered the API key and their base URL settings and tested it, I always received "API test failed, check config.: Translation service is temporarily unreachable — could be a network issue or the service is having a hiccup. Please try again later, or switch to a different translation service." even when I can use the same base URL and API key in my Claude Code. I also tried using their OpenAI-compatible endpoint with the same result.
Is this service not compatible with a gateway service?
Thank you.
Thanks for the report. The cause is on the gateway's side: syncera doesn't send CORS headers. Both of their endpoints answer OPTIONS with 404 and return no Access-Control-Allow-Origin, so the browser blocks the request before it's sent — all it reports back is a status-less TypeError, which is what you saw as "temporarily unreachable". Claude Code is a Node process with no same-origin policy, which is why the same key and base URL work there. Worth asking them to enable it — one block in nginx/Caddy, and it would fix them for every browser-based client.
Your report did surface one bug here: pasting their Anthropic base URL (https://api.syncera.id/anthropic) sent the request to that address verbatim instead of appending /v1/messages. Fixed — the URL field now completes …/anthropic and …/v1 bases, and a cross-origin failure now says so instead of blaming your network.
Could you retest at https://tools.newzone.top/en/subtitle-translator once you've heard back from them? If you need Claude models in the meantime, OpenRouter and OpenCode Zen are in the provider list and work in the browser today.
