I believe this was recently fixed in #367, the relevant rocSOLVER PR which added this support is at ROCm/rocSOLVER#305. These additions aren't in ROCm 4.2 which would explain why you're seeing the issue.

Prior to these PRs, hipBLAS with a rocBLAS/rocSOLVER backend did not support a nullptr ipiv. I will double check that your example works as expected after these changes this afternoon.

I'm seeing a successful return using your example with the tip of develop for hipBLAS/rocSOVLER, which supports my suspicions that it was solved in the mentioned PR. Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this! Thanks.

Wonder if there is a way to migrate this to a hipBLAS issue ? Have you tried "Transfer issue" ? I haven't.

Thanks for your response! Sorry for opening the issue under the wrong repo. I will try this out using the latest develop branch of hipBLAS/rocSOLVER to verify and will follow up from there.

This seems to be fixed as expected by installing the latest version of develop.
