most of that htaccess stuff should be up to each person to decide if they want to include it or not, but i'll look through it some more to see if we can add any of it to roots

I agree with the fact that each person have to decide, if they want to include it or not.
But I'm searching a way to include some htaccess snipptes without break the all root-htaccess.php
It would certainly be interesting to write some documentation on that.

I have a last quick question. Can I insert new rows into root-htacess.php between the signs :
$ rules .= "\ n # something ";

After that, you can maybe close the issue.

Hi, not sure where to ask this question but here goes. I've installed and activated roots twice and each time get a error 500 internal server error. I suspect there is something in the .htaccess that is triggering this. I have done 2 clean installs of wordpress and then have installed roots. Each time the installs go fine but once I activate the roots theme, I get the error. Any ideas how I might resolve this?

comment out line 11 on functions.php that calls the h5bp htaccess

Yes, that allowed me to activate the theme.
