./build.sh Failure about libmbus

I'm not sure what went wrong with your installation but I'm also using a raspi and a JC-E gateway:

I'm using the following bash script to install the libmbus library;

#!/bin/bash

echo Starting to install MBus Library
sudo apt-get install git
sudo apt-get install libtool
sudo apt-get install autoconf
sudo apt-get install cmake
sudo apt-get install build-essential

git clone https://github.com/rscada/libmbus
cd libmbus
sudo ./build.sh
sudo ./configure
sudo make
sudo make check
sudo make install
sudo make installcheck
sudo make clean
cd /
cd usr/local/bin
sudo ldconfig
echo Finished

with that, it works for me
