This was an issue in RStudio. I just made a change to use the system file association to render markdown document preview. This should show up in tomorrow's daily build.

Closer... fig.path still needs to be manually set since the temporary location gets nuked regardless of if the .Rmd
is a named file in a project or an Untitled-#
document. Should it still default to either the document or project root path /figures
?
Also, there is now odd behavior when the .md
file is opened if there are or have been multiple rstudio sessions opened. It tries to go to the first opened session and if that session is closed a new session is created for the .md
.

I'm having trouble teasing out the exact problem from the various messages. Could you post a new issue with the form of e.g. I did this, this is what happened, this is what I expected (so I can easily reproduce locally)
