just my 2cents: using pubsub for ipns made my ipns lookups much faster.

Well, it's recommended to use pubsub. There should be no noticeable delay in resolving this way. :)

And no, updating the record isn't an option - as I use DNSSEC on this domain. So each change has to be signed.

Can you provide some numbers of how the IPNS is performing on the second lookup after the startup of your node with pubsub with gossipsub enabled?
