Although I support solving this issue here, I suppose @klokantech team might be interested in solving this bug (probably in their iiifserver fork).

In fact, I am about to merge an improved version of the IIIF code into the main branch and was asking myself the same question about IIIF 2.0. Is it better to go directly to the 2.0 info syntax. Will the viewers around be able to use this already? Or is there a way for the viewer to declare the version it's capable of reading?

OpenSeadragon will already work with 2.0 already, which several of the viewers use. So going to 2.0 directly (and thanks for the post to iiif-discuss) is definitely the right choice. Loris is already 2.0 as well, and freelib-djatoka is updating in the next couple of months, so clients will likely follow suit pretty quickly. A way for viewers to declare their supported versions would be very useful :)
