You are totally right for the widgets and the idea that it must stay a text file.
I was thinking about replacing checkboxes on the fly, but your point is 100% valid.

So for all the other points, I'll send you PRs in the next following weeks, also depending on my work schedule.
In any case, I'll try as much as possible to send full PRs for a given feature, so it reduces the disturbance on your side.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and future support !

Great ideas!

I'd love to get it to Melpa ASAP. I started looking into it a while back but then my job got in the way.

I'm totally on board with all of your features except for "Replace the "checkboxes" with emacs widget in order to make it clickable." I really want to keep this package focused on being plaintext with nice font faces and keybindings. Once we start making it more "GUI", I feel like it diverges from what I'd want from this. I guess to your point about configurations, we can make GUI checkboxes configurable so that it's disabled by default but then you can enable it.

That sounds great! Also, with the GUI checkbox idea, it would be difficult to represent all of the different states (since this isn't checked or unchecked).

Thank you!

Something that would be nice is creating an issue in this repo for each feature idea. That way work is tracked-ish.

I'll do that, no problem !

@ryanolsonx Many thanks for your trust when giving me perms.
I will make sure to continue with the pattern issue/PR, even if I merge, in order to keep track of things.

Sweet! Sounds good. I don’t have a ton of time and trust the work you’ve been doing 😁
