Hi Nico,
You can get rid of Agenda.js if you are not using it, remove the 'loader' and the calls to the job handlers in the subscriber/events folder.
To implement MySQL just go to the models' folder and remove mongoose, and declare your models as you are used to with MySQL.
TypeORM is a good option with pretty similar syntax at what is used here.
Also, don't forget to add MySQL connection as well.
To be honest, at the moment of including the calls to Models in the Service Layer, I didn't write a repository pattern, so all the calls to mongoose are tightly coupled, I'm really sorry :/
So, you need to go to the service layer and change the calls to .find(), .create() etc, to something compatible with your MySQL implementation.
import {Entity, PrimaryGeneratedColumn, Column, BaseEntity} from "typeorm";
@Entity()
export class User extends BaseEntity {
@PrimaryGeneratedColumn()
id: number;
@Column()
firstName: string;
@Column()
lastName: string;
@Column()
age: number;
}
The thing with Redis is a lot more simpler, setup the Redis connection in the DI container.
import { Container } from 'typedi';
import * as redis from 'redis'
export default ({ mongoConnection, models }: { mongoConnection; models: { name: string; model: any }[] }) => {
try {
models.forEach(m => {
Container.set(m.name, m.model);
});
const redisClient = redis.createClient();
Container.set('redisClient', redisClient);
...
Then inject it in the class you want.
import { Service, Inject } from 'typedi';
@Service()
export default class SearchService {
constructor(
@Inject('redisClient') private redisClient
) {}
...

Woah! This is amazing, man!
You don't have a clue how much this helps me while I'm taking my first steps with Node :)
Of course I'll give you credits if I ever build an app with this architecture!
