My guess (hope) is that you could write a custom controller that wraps the request to /specs by unsetting that flag before and after the specs are rendered. Similarly you might want to write a custom Rake task that disables the setting and then programmatically invokes the "spec:javascript" task. Would that work?

Following redirects when getting the test runner from the engine would fix this issue.

As a temporary hack, you can override JasmineRails.route_path to return a full url like this

# config/initializers/jasmine.rb
if Rails.env.test?
  JasmineRails.instance_eval do
    def route_path
      'https://my-app.local/specs'
    end
  end
end

The temp hack above probably won't work in a CI environment, whereas the fix will (tested on Circle CI).
