I'm trying to decide if this should be merged with issue 11 (#11) and I feel like it should. Have a look at that issue and add any comments to it that are needed to cover your case. We're planning to discuss this issue at our retreat early in March and I'd like to make sure we cover all the bases.

Please enumerate the things you see being in the different layers: two eyes with different projection matrices, environment map/background and foreground, static and moving objects, etc.

@russell-taylor This is not the same as the layering in the compositor that is being talked about in issue #11 . I'm talking about a render target that has a texture with multiple layers. This is known in OpenGL as layered rendering, you can find out more about it here: https://www.opengl.org/wiki/Geometry_Shader#Layered_rendering
