At this point we're purposely keeping it super simple to join and do multi-user chats. The tricky thing with private rooms is that you need identity of shared secrets or something to determine whether you should have access. We've got some ideas and plans for doing strong identity based auth at some point, though. At this point generating a really long, unguessable room name will get you pretty close to it being "private". For example, go to http://conversat.io and just push the "let's go" button without putting anything in the box and you'll get a long "random" id.

There are now private rooms implemented in talky.io. But this is not a feature that is going to be implemented directly into the library as it's a fairly specific that requires making a lot of assumptions about how the library is going to be used.
