This would be awesome. Do you have any ideas on how this might work or look once the cards are linked?

Maybe lines can be drawn between linked cards? All cards that are defending can be linked with a blue line, but enchanted cards are linked with a different colored line. This might get really nasty looking very quickly, maybe the lines only show on-hover or it's toggleable in the UI somewhere.
