Thanks for the feedback! Those RS485 breakout board are tricky. I remember trying to get them working when I was first developing this library, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I was doing wrong. My solution was to make my own PCB from scratch.

That said, it looks like you are supplying your breakout board with 3.3v. The MAX485 takes 5v Vcc. I would try switching over to the 5v rail of your ESP32 and see if that fixes the issue.
