I have experiences with WWW::Mechanize (Perl), with this module we can change the default behaviour of the scripts, Its like..
WWW::Mechanize->new( autocheck=> 0 ).

use rescue ?

Can you explain why rescuing the specific errors you'd like to ignore is not a suitable solution for your use case?
