It would be out of the scope of this project, as I want to keep it as simple as possible.
However, it is relative easy to do by your own, all you need to do is to modify the metatable of the class. Note, this is not really inherit native C++ class, as there is noway the C++ code will see the changes, it is pure lua side things.
-- to extend exported c++ class
local mt_static = getmetatable(BaseClass)
-- add static function here
rawset(mt_static, "bonjour", function(self)
print("Hello, world!")
end)
-- this apply to non-const object only
local mt_class = rawget(mt_static, "___class")
rawset(mt_class, "hello", function(self)
print("Hello, world!")
end)
local mt_const = rawget(mt_static, "___const")
rawset(mt_const, "hi", function(self)
print("Hello, world!")
end)
To construct a DerivedClass directly is a bit complex, as there are special fields need to take care of. If you really need to do inheriting in the lua side, the suggestion is to simply use middleclass, but first construct a base class as proxy to the exported class, then inherit from it.
