OK I got a work around.
Dump those jpg background into GIMP and then draw some lines.
Interval is 80px. This will cohere with 40px settings in write (0.5X scale factor from jpg).
Then export it as pdf just like the attached files.

japanpaper6.pdf
And then use the pdf2write.sh without --vector flag to convert that.
The file comes out can be opened by write directly.
Only problem is the enormous file size.
