It's a great question, let me dig into this before I state something official.

@getaaron While I'd personally like to allow the unrestricted use of these materials, the official word is truly Non-Commercial, per the license. This means that paid workshops, and other commercial examples you listed, should not use the materials, nor should the materials be used if money is being made in any way. Hence, the licensing information will stay as-is.

However, while I won't be adding an addendum to the license, you should understand that I am absolutely uninterested in pursuing any case against using these materials in an educational context given that the materials themselves are not rebranded and sold. So if someone offers a workshop or code school course using the materials, or uses the materials for training at a company, you would be violating the license but I truly do not care.

Thanks for the PDF. It looks pretty interesting. Thanks, also, for taking the time to follow up on this and clarify. I guess I will not be able to use this project, although I will still try to contribute to it.

BTW, private high schools are usually formed as 501(c)(3) nonprofits (at least in the US).

Yes, but just because an entity is a non-profit doesn't mean that it is non-money, which is the key idea behind commercial/noncommercial.

Tell me, what was your intent in using the materials? This is a discussion, and my words are not a decree.

I was considering using some of the material to supplement the coursework in Bloc's iOS coding bootcamp. For example, using the Keynote files to make video screencasts. I don't think I can do that, though, since the course costs money.

While I'm a fan of Bloc's (and many a "code school") model, you're right in that it would be violating the license. If you take the safe route, there's certainly nothing wrong with these materials being catalysts for your own ideas.
