This one is tough, because when using an internal ivykis, we statically link ivykis into libsyslog-ng.so
. Furthermore, we do not want to conflict with any possible system-wide ivykis, either.
So, I propose the following:
- When using an internal ivykis, install the headers to
${includedir}/syslog-ng/ivykis
, and adjust the CFLAGS in the pkg-config file accordingly. - Also add a
with_internal_ivykis=yes
(orno
) to the pkg-config file, so that the Incubator can detect whether it wants to search for a system-wide ivykis or not.
This would need only minimal changes in the Incubator (only to configure.ac
), and doesn't require much on the syslog-ng side, either.

So when I want to use internal ivykis in incubator, I should add ${includedir}/syslog-ng/ivykis to CFLAGS when with_internal_ivykis is present in syslog-ng.pc. Am I right?

No, CFLAGS will be taken care of by the syslog-ng pkg-config file. What you'll need, though, is to not check for ivykis separately in configure.ac
, if with_internal_ivykis=yes
is present in syslog-ng.pc
.
I'll send a patch once this is done, to make things simple.
