amperagekit's Introduction

Amperage

Amperage is a console Windows app designed to help you enable Recall on devices that aren't officially supported.

At the moment, Amperage can only enable recall if your machine has an Arm64 CPU / SoC. That is, any Qualcomm Snapdragon, Microsoft SQ, or Ampere chipset.

Make sure that you're running a build of Windows 11 that contains Recall. Here's a list of valid builds as of 6/21/2024:

  • Windows 11 version 24H2
    • 26100.7xx
    • 26120.7xx
  • Windows 11 Insider Preview (Canary)
    • 26227.5000
    • 26231.5000
    • 26236.5000

Older revisions of Windows 11 version 24H2 (.6xx and lower) as well as newer ones (.8xx) do not include the necessary OS level components for Recall. The same applies for Canary builds before 26227 and after 26236.

Most x86_64 users will have to wait until Microsoft publishes AI Components for their platform. However, if you're feeling particularly adventurous you can try Emulating Arm64 Windows on your x86_64 Windows PC

26100.712 is also available on Azure ARM VMs by using a 24H2 image (currently 26100.560) and installing KB5037850.

How do I get started?

  1. Head to the Releases page and download the latest version
  2. Download the AI Components (Machine Learning workloads) for Arm64 from here
  3. Unpack the release you've just downloaded
  4. Unpack the contents of the Workloads archive into the WorkloadComponents folder next to Amperage.exe
  5. Fire up Command Prompt as Administrator and navigate to the directory you extracted Amperage to
  6. Type in amperage /install and hit Enter

The tool will now guide you through Recall installation. It should all finish in one fell swoop but in case you happened to misplace any files, it will let you know as soon as you run it. image

UUPDump script not working

I tried to create the ISO using the script on Friday, but unfortunately it was taking too long and I had to travel so I cancelled it, now when I try again I'm met with the following message:

Unable to retrieve data from Windows Update servers. Reason: EMPTY_FILELIST
If this problem persists, most likely the set you are attempting to download was removed from Windows Update servers.

Is there an alternate way to get the required ISO to test Recall?

Won't run on insider version

Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 24H2
Installed on ‎20/‎06/‎2024
OS build 26100.863
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.6.0

Works great on Azure free tier

This tool works on a basic Azure VM. Using an ARM64 VM, size E2pds (2 vCPU, 16 GB RAM), source image win11-24h2-pro. Just have to run Windows Update and reboot first. On this machine, Recall is a bit slow, but works fine. It's very easy to set up, thank you.

Mac Support

Is it possible to run the ARM Windows 11 ISO on an M3 MacBook Pro with Virtual BOX or VMWare Fusion?

Want to stay ahead of this monstrosity before it is enabled for the Intel/AMD devices in my domain. I will be shutting it down as soon as I can get my hands on the ADMX or it appears in Intune. Whichever happens first.

I realize this is probably a dumb question, but figured there might be other dummies out there thinking the same thing :-)

Thanks

Mark

Not working on Huawei devices

The software successfully unlocked Windows Recall on my device. However, after capturing a few screenshots, the feature stopped functioning. Additionally, it appears that Recall is unable to perform OCR, which prevents me from searching through the history. My device is running Windows 11 build 26120.751 (Dev Channel) and is equipped with 16GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor.

Request for x64 Support

Hi,

Please add support for Intel and AMD processors with x64 architecture. I'm sure you will add this support in the future, and I hope it will be as soon as possible.

Thank you!
