Hey @jasonm & @bfitch, bourbon is being imported properly to your stylesheets. You aren't calling any bourbon specific mixins.
body {
@import linear-gradient(red, purple);
height: 100%;
}
body {color: red;} sets the color of the text, and there is no text on the /home/show view.

I see - the reason I added the body { color: xyz; }
was to see whether or not bourbon was getting imported. With an application.css.scss this like:
body { color: red; }
@import "flutie";
body { color: green; }
@import "bourbon";
body { color: blue; }
I expected some content to appear between green and blue, much like flutie appears between red and green. But, bourbon doesn't actually emit any CSS rules when it's imported - it just makes includes available. That's what @bfitch and I were missing.
So, if you write the following rule:
body {
@include linear-gradient(red, purple);
height: 100%;
}
then you'll see the correctly generated CSS, based on the includes that bourbon provides.
