I'm seeing the same thing (same environment as the above poster, but slightly different cargo version). Until this is fixed, it's impossible to migrate away from the deprecated time

This looks like it's because gcc
isn't in your path. This library shells out to gcc to compile some native code, so it'll require it to be in your PATH. I've just pushed some hopefully clearer error messages to help reduce this pain in the future!

It seems that gcc
not being in the path isn't the only problem. I tried adding Rust's bundled gcc
to the path and got a similar error; it only worked when I installed MinGW64 and used its gcc
. Surely the build script should be able to use Rust's bundled gcc
?
It would be very nice if the build script could be made to work without installing MinGW or modifying your path. I assume this would require modifying gcc-rs; should I file an issue over there?
