It is most definitely possible, but unfortunately I am constrained on time,.
I plan to eventually get to this. http://bl.ocks.org/metmajer/5480307 is a very good example. With minor modifications, I actually probably like https://bl.ocks.org/vasturiano/12da9071095fbd4df434e60d52d2d58d better.

@Dewidine, that looks quite nice, and I'm glad you are using sunburstR. Unfortunately, this level of customization is a lengthy and time-consuming process, so I will not be able to help with the full implementation. However, I am happy to help overcome any particular stumbling blocks. Perhaps, someone else following along might like to help...

Can it possible to annotate only parent section with their labels?

+1 in terms of excellent feature would like to see would also help accessibility for colorblind individuals

I have been searching a way to have the labels only in the second circle (the grey part) but have not found a way to do it in R. Any clue about how to do it?
