Rather than adding native support for A8L8, I'll add full support for arbitrary
RGBA
pixel formats. These will be specified with the
CompressionOptions::setPixelFormat
method. In addition to that, I'll also add support for arbitrary swizzles of the
input data, using some sort of HLSL notation. I hope that will fit your needs.

Full support for RGBA pixel formats is already there, but the input swizzle is

implemented yet.

Rather than swizzles, I'll add arbitrary color transformations. Swizzles can be
implemented with simple linear transforms, and those allow extra flexibility,
for
example, if you want to create a luminance alpha texture, you would do:
inputOptions.setColorTransform(ColorTransform_Linear);
inputOptions.setLinearTransform(0, 0.333f, 0.333f, 0.333f, 0.0f);
inputOptions.setLinearTransform(1, 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 1.0f);
inputOptions.setLinearTransform(2, 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f);
inputOptions.setLinearTransform(3, 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f);

inputOptions.setColorTransform(ColorTransform_Swizzle);
inputOptions.setSwizzleTransform(2, 1, 0, 3); // .zyxw

Linear color transforms and swizzles are now supported in trunk! This feature
will be
part of the next minor release (2.1.0).
