You will just have to download the DB every so often. That's what I'm doing for Snowcrew.org
I've noticed when the DB starts to get out of dated you will see more "The address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is not in the database" warnings. So I use that as an indicator to update.
What ip mapping workaround are you referring to?
