@vimalthilak, Torch has been updated a lot since this image has been done. I would suggest a fresh installation!

@Atcold : Thank you! Is there an updated VM available? If not, I will follow the directions for Ubuntu using a fresh VM.

I use Win7 as my platform for work reasons. I believe that torch7 installation for Win7 isn't ready yet. Are there plans to get torch7 to work on Win7/Win8 etc?

Thanks!

I paste here the mail I sent to my students

Hi folk,

This is Alfredo, this class TA.
I wrote some notes on the class website, Tools section, about how to easily install the last version of Ubuntu on you machine, like it were a Windows program.
In the notes I've included also a couple of links where you can get some information about Ubuntu itself.

The first homework is only about getting the software up and running on your machines.
If you don't have a Mac or Ubuntu installed on your machine, please follow my notes and install Wubi. Then install Torch, following the instructions here.

If you have any trouble, try it again.
If it doesn't work, google it.
If both of these don't work, ask your computers geek friend.
If you run out of luck, see me. ;)

All the best :)

Alf

If you are serious about it, but you don't want to install Ubuntu, use Wubi. If you wanna just try, use a virtual machine, but it will lower your performance.
