I just got this working and it's improved my life, thanks! I had some trouble setting it up though. By reading through the code, I realized I needed to remove my ~/.chef directory (or move it to configurations). As most people will likely be setting this up with an existing configuration, it may make sense to add a bit about this to the README.

Good idea, I have a TODO item currently to make this part of the installation process, just havent gotten there yet.

Does this seem like it would have helped with your issues? 49f74e12135f11aa8e9f163d4d891c386c4ffa56 Great to hear this helps.

Awesome tool! I too had troubles with the install...and I think it boils down to this...I was cautious about my existing "stuff" when I installed...took a backup, but didn't actually "mv .chef/" Yes, its in the docs, no I didn't do it. As you know, that will prohibit the symlink from getting setup. Maybe just a note near the top saying "This will create a symlink from ~/.chef/ to ~/.chefvm/ directory structure. Be sure ~/.chef/ doesn't exist when installing by moving your current, if any, ~/.chef/ directory. Or, maybe I'm just slow. :)

Good idea, I will add something in for this

does this solve the issues you had? f666a9b Would love to make `chefvm setup` handle these cases (as well as backup) for you.
