I don't have 44 installed yet so can't personally test it.
Can anyone manually update the metadata.json and confirm it works?

@Tudmotu I have added "44" to ".local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]/metadata.json" file, the extension is working. however 'just text selection' doesn't copy to history.
